How Inclusive Is Country Swing Dancing?

How inclusive Is Country Swing Dancing?

So you are wondering if Country Swing Dancing is inclusive to all groups and communities?  To answer that question I would say yes, it’s very inclusive to all communities of people.  Country Dancing in general includes all cultures of people around the world.  It is not considered ethical to exclude people based on race, religion, sexual orientation, gender etc.  People of all walks of life join in the country dancing spirit.  And it’s also very apparent when you get to know how large the community is and how diverse the cultures and peoples are in the Country Dancing community, that you really start to appreciate its inclusivity.  Country Dancing in general is very popular in North America and Europe and parts of South East Asia, and Australia.

In Canada I have taught students of almost all cultures from around the world.  And what’s really nice about Country Swing Dancing is that pretty much almost anyone can do Country Swing Dancing.  I have taught people from All major continents across the globe and everyone that learns to do Country Swing just loves this type of dancing.  It’s really fun and the fact that you can interact more one on one with people, really makes it that much better to improve the social interaction among students who are learning it.

If you are curious about how the Country Dancing community relates to the LGBT community, I would say the relationship is very positive.  There are professional dancers who have risen through the ranks and obtained their professional dancing status.  Others have administrated different events, and there are also a few Country Dancing Bars that are run by the LGBT community right in Dallas Texas and other parts of the states.  There is no exclusivity among people of different groups to join in and have fun Country Swing Dancing.

We have also had people of various religions join in learning how to Country Dance.  One of the people we’ve had who was unsure about how to join in since their religion forbade men to touch them so, we had them team up with someone that was of the same sex as them.  And it worked out fine.

As you can see in the picture at the top that I took with some of the students I’ve taught, that this is probably one of the most culturally diverse groups I’ve ever taught, and we all had a lot of fun!
