Country Dancing History in Alberta Canada

Alberta Country Western Dance Association

The Alberta Country Western Dance Association(ACWDA) is a Regional Country Dance Association designed “To provide a sound foundation on which Country and Western Dancing can be taught, learned, performed, evaluated and enjoyed.”  The Association promoted and facilitated communication and collegial working relations within the Alberta Country and Western Dancing Community.  To promote, protect, and improve Country Western Dancing as an art form.  To promote the establishment of a uniform set of teaching techniques which naturally progress to the competition floor.  To Survey, Develop, Certify and Rate Country and Western Dance Judges.  To Sanction and Promote Country and Western Dance Judges. That is their mission statement and here are some of the Alberta Country Western Dance Association News Letters.

Country Pride Dance Club

Country Pride Dance Club(CPDC) was established in Red Deer, Alberta in 1991 for all of the Central Alberta community to learn and promote country dance. In that time period the club has done some amazing things, and taken its members on a wonderful journey. From teaching students how to two-step, to taking our dance team to compete at a World Championship.  Country Pride Dance Club is probably the longest running Dance Club in Canada.  They had their 25th Anniversary in 2016 and have a video documentary about the club that is 1hr 20mins longs.  See it here:
